Every Spring, ODU participates in RecycleMania, a friendly competition among college and university recycling programs in North America and Canada. During a 10-week period, schools report recycling and trash collection data and are ranked according to the volume of recyclables collected. In 2017, Old Dominion University collected 1.5 million pounds of recyclable materials.
