ODU Community Donated More than 1,000 Coats for Annual Coat Drive

By Noell Saunders

The Old Dominion University community donated more than 1,000 coats toward WAVY-TV's "10 On Your Side Coats for Families" 2016-2017 campaign.

Coats were collected in December and January at the Ted Constant Convocation Center during Old Dominion's women and men's basketball games. ODU's Women's Initiative Network assisted in the coat drive. Also, faculty and staff made donations at this year's holiday reception at the Kate and John R. Broderick Dining Commons.

In all, nearly 10,000 coats were collected during the WAVY drive and distributed to children and adults across Hampton Roads.

The annual Coats for Families drive, which has been running for more than 25 years, provides new and gently used coats to people in need throughout the region.
