$2.18 Million Grant to Fund Study of Club Drug Use in China
Xiushi Yang, as the principal investigator, is working with a group of researchers, including partners from Eastern Virginia Medical School. The five-year grant will fund research in two cities on the east coast and southwest of China.

First Group of Chesapeake Sheriff's Office Interns Set to Complete New Program
Eight ODU students are completing a three-month program to receive certification from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services that will enable them to work part-time as seasonal employees, or deputy cadets, while attending classes and maintaining good academic standing.

The Marine Advanced Technology Education Center (MATE) uses underwater robots - also known as remotely operated vehicles or ROVs - to teach science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines and prepare students for technical careers. The MATE competition, pictured in this week's gallery, challenges K-12, community college and university students from all over the world to design and build ROVs to tackle missions modeled after scenarios from the ocean workplace.
