Ambitious ODU Film Project Responds to “Birth of a Nation”

To mark the centennial anniversary of the landmark film "Birth of a Nation" and explore African-American responses to its controversial 1915 release, Avi Santo, director of Old Dominion's Institute of Humanities, arranged for an inspirational evening of film, expert commentary and new music -- and also conceived a short film.



Across Campus - A Photo Essay

For the first time in years, representatives from a sizeable cross-section of the National Football League's teams came to Foreman Field for Old Dominion's "Pro Day." Under the watchful eyes of the NFL scouts, players including Taylor Heinicke, Larry Pinkard and Antonio Vaughn underwent strength, agility and speed testing. Photos by Chuck Thomas.

"It's a dog's life," is a refrain typically used to denote an unpleasant situation. But, for "Huero," life doesn't appear so bad. Recent grad, Stephanie Ramirez is pictured helping Bryan Mason study in the hallway outside the Strome Entrepreneurial Center. Ramirez was in the building to clean out her locker and along for the visit was her pooch, Huero.
