Gina McCarthy, head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency , spoke Wednesday to the audience at TechSurge, a two-day conference on national coastal resiliency. During Student Giveback Day, property left behind by students at the end of the spring semester is collected and donated to charity in order to reduce landfill waste and promote recycling. This year, the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters was the recipient of nearly 9,000 pounds of donated items. In these pictures ODU's manager of support services and recycling Harvey Logan and warehouse supervisor Bruce O'Leary, driving the fork lift, record weight readings and load boxes into a truck for transport.
