All Fall Down: ODU Researcher Studies Risk Factors, Interventions for Older Adults Who Suffer Falls

For older adults, suffering a fall is a well-known risk. For those 65 or older, the likelihood that they will suffer a fall in the following year is a staggering 1-in-3. This sobering statistic is at the heart of research being conducted at ODU by Steven Morrison of the College of Health Sciences' School of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training.



HACE Hosts 'Spirit of the Holidays' Party

Christmas cards, ornaments, face painting, pizza, Santa Claus and gifts - the Hourly and Classified Employees Association's "Spirit of the Holidays" party had all that and more waiting for the approximately 30 children of Band 1 classified and hourly employees who attended the annual pre-holiday event on Dec. 19.

Sponsored by the Association of University Administrators, the event attracted an audience of administrators, staff and faculty, who heard the VPs discuss their initiatives that incorporate President Broderick's vision and ODU's strategic plan. In addition to Brandon, those giving presentations included: David Harnage, chief operating officer; Carol Simpson, provost and vice president for academic affairs; Bob Fenning, vice president for administration and finance; September Sanderlin, vice president for human resources; Rodger Harvey, interim vice president for research; Ellen Neufeldt, vice president for student engagement and enrollment services; and Wood Selig, director of athletics.
