Robert A. (Rob) Broermann was appointed to the Board of Visitors on July 1, 2019 by Governor Ralph Northam. He currently serves as a member of the Administration & Finance and Athletics Committees and as Vice Chair of the Student Enhancement & Engagement Committee. He also serves as the Board's representative to the University's Real Estate Foundation.
Broermann serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sentara Healthcare, a position he has held since 2001. He joined Sentara in 1998 through the merger of Sentara and Tidewater Health Care, which he had served as CFO since 1993. Prior to joining Tidewater Health Care, Broermann served as a senior audit manager with Coopers & Lybrand.
In addition to the ODU Board of Visitors, Broermann serves on the Boards of the United Way of South Hampton Roads Foundation, the Virginia Beach Education Foundation, and Samaritan House.
Broermann earned his B.S. in Accounting in 1980 and his MBA in 1983 from ODU. He is a licensed CPA in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a Fellow in the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
He and his wife, Renee (also an ODU graduate), live in Virginia Beach. They raised two children, Nicholas Broermann and Elise Broermann Cramer.
